UIUC students do not need to apply before registering.
Registering
UIUC students register online, using Student Self-Service. Registration typically opens in April. For instructions on how to register, please visit the Office of the Registrar.
Students may enroll in up to three course sections at a time.
All students must register for LING 110: Cultural Experiences of the Muslim World during each summer term they are enrolled in a SILWM course. LING 110 accounts for the cultural component of the language study.
If there are any problems getting registered, contact the instructor of the course you are attempting to enroll in.
Tuition and Fees
Each student will pay tuition costs (per credit hour), university fees, and the SILMW internal fee (per LING 110 course). Payments are made through Student Self-Service.

Tuition
UIUC undergraduate and graduate students' tuition rate can be viewed by selecting the Tuition Rates option under the summer term here.
The number credit hours depend on the level of the language and if one or two summer terms are attended.
Tuition rate covers instruction for the full eight-week session. Tuition will be electronically billed by the University of Illinois.
Fees
University Fees are required to be paid by all SILMW students. These fees provide SILMW students with access to the campus technology clusters, libraryrecreational sports facilitiesStudent Health Center, and free transportation on Champaign-Urbana city buses.
SILMW internal fee is paid directly to the Department of Linguistics. This fee is $50 per LING 100 course the student is enrolled in. This internal program fee cannot be waived. If you are a recipient of FLAS fellowship or other form of sponsorship, please contact your sponsor regarding the reimbursement of the SILMW internal program fee. The SILMW administration is unable to officially credit your coursework until you have paid the program fee. Additionally, you will not be eligible to attend the SILMW field trip if you have not already paid this internal program fee.
An additional general campus fee will also be assessed.

Funding Opportunities
Both undergraduate and graduate UIUC students who are U.S. citizens are encouraged to apply for Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships (FLAS) through the University.
Summer FLAS awards carry $5000 for tuition and fees plus a $3500 living stipend.
All languages offered at SILMW are eligible for FLAS through one of the University’s Centers.

Be aware that in order to receive FLAS funding for the summer, you must apply for FLAS funding at the regular deadline (usually the previous winter).
Viewing Final Grades
UIUC students have access to seeing all their final grades through Student Self-Service after the end of the summer session. Please note that all summer course grades are added to transcripts after the summer session.
